SETTING THE HOUSE ALARM WHILE FR. PAUL AWAY
I’m always loath to turn the place into a fortress, but I’m sure you’ll agree that something has to be done after the recent break-in. We’ll be reviewing security over the next few weeks and come back to you all with some definite proposals for your discussion and agreement. As a first step, can we all agree on the list of Key Holders? Any name to add or delete? Syd Jones (Secretary), Ray Harper (Organist), Marie Broadhurst (Florist), Pauline Hackett (SVP), Eleanor Elwell (Housekeeping), Brian Flack (Sacristan) and Louise Robertshaw (FHC). All key holders will be notified of the alarm arrangements. As a minimum, the alarm will be set between 6.00pm – 9.00am for the days while Fr Paul is away.

USE OF CAR PARK NEXT DOOR
The Council has refused permission for the land next door to be used as a commercial car park and the owners have now advised us that any cars parked there risked being clamped. The one exception is Sunday morning when bona fide parishioners may park there up to 12 noon without charge.

VISITING PRIEST NEXT WEEKEND
Next weekend while I’m away we are delighted Fr. Alan Bell from the Crusade of the Holy Spirit will be coming to tell us about his missionary work. I’m sure we’ll make him very welcome and there will be a 2nd Collection to help support the work of his Order.

TIDYING THE PRESBYTERY

Among the many jobs we’ve completed have been: a huge box of foreign and out-of-date money taken to M&S for their breast cancer appeal – all from Sunday collections over the five years! – and a cupboard full of old books taken from the top floor untouched for 30 years. Some are on the table at the back of church if you would like to help yourself.
