BREAK-IN ON TUESDAY NIGHT LAST WEEK
Sadly, we had a break-in at the Presbytery in the early hours of Wednesday morning last week. They levered open the window of the Office, and stole the Parish Computer. Nothing else, fortunately, but still an incredible inconvenience, as you can imagine, with so much of the Parish Admin depending on it these days. Excellent Police Response, and some leads to follow up. We’ve also had the theft of lead from the roof and my own laptop from the back Sitting Room in recent months. I’m always loath to turn the place into a fortress, but I’m sure you’ll agree that something has to be done. We’ll be reviewing security over the next few weeks and come back to you all with some definite proposals for your discussion and agreement. As a first step, can we all agree on the list of Key Holders? Any name to add or delete? Syd Jones, Ray Harper, Marie Broadhurst, Pauline Hackett, Eleanor Elwell, Brian Flack. For all key-holders, we will need to agree arrangements for setting and cancelling the Alarm during the ten days I am away.

Detached campanile with square, pyamidal spire displaying loudspeakers in its toy-like belfry…” There are some histories of this Parish at the back of church by Bill Cresswell. £2 each.

TIM MURRAY SPONSORED BIKE RIDE TO LOURDES
John Murray emailed us on Wednesday:
Tim arrived safely in Lourdes last night (Tuesday 27th) after a slightly eventful last day. After visiting Notre Dame des cyclistes (honestly there is a national sanctuary, you can look it up on Google) he had to call into get his bike repaired and then had a puncture around 20km short of Lourdes. For the first time he was complaining about knees, hamstrings etc. Just think what he would have been like had we not called in on ND des cyclistes. Anyway he did it. No cheating, the morning after the ferry crossing he insisted on going back to the ferryport to start from there rather than from where we stopped overnight. Not far short of 1000 miles cycling in the end. Very proud dad. Thanks for all your help, John Murray

For those of you with access to the internet you can join in the diocesan Mass at the Grotto on Saturday July 30th at 07 30 a.m. BST by going to http://fr.lourdes-france.org and then clicking on ‘Lourdes en Direct 24/24’ in the centre of your screen. You can also join in the pilgrims passing through the Grotto on Friday afternoon at 13 00 BST and join in the International Mass on Sunday at 08 30 BST. We can all unite ourselves in the prayer of the pilgrimage by praying with and for the pilgrimage each day.
